James Werner is the saxophone player for The
Dogz. He started his musical career playing alto saxophone in the school
band, in fourth grade. After we formed the band, our director Mr. Glynn
asked James to switch to tenor saxophone, which he agreed to do. He has
played alto and tenor saxophone ever since. James also does vocals for the
band. His first vocal piece was I Got You (I Feel Good) by James Brown.
Since then James has added many pieces to his list of vocals, and now sings
11 songs. Since the band formed James has become very good at playing
saxophone. His favorite genre to play is jazz.
James's alto saxophone is a Yamaha, his tenor is a Berkeley.
Outside of the band, James enjoys soccer. He is a member of his school's
chorus and jazz band. He is also a member of a foreign exchange program in
Germany. He belongs to the folk group at his church, where he sings and
plays saxophone. He also has been doing community service work as a
counselor at the Trinity preschool for 4 years. When he grows up he does not
know what field of work he wants to go into, but he knows that he wants to
keep music a part of his life.
The picture above is from the Regis High School Auction. James is playing
his Berkeley tenor saxophone.
