Nicole Mariani is the bass player for The Dogz. She also plays clarinet on several songs. She has been playing bass for 5 years and clarinet for 6 years, but her musical career started much earlier. Nicole started playing piano when she was 5. She stopped after 3 years, and took up acoustic guitar. She played acoustic guitar for 3 years. Nicole then decided to join the school band in fifth grade. She originally wanted to play flute, but there were so many flutes in the band that after the first rehearsal she switched to clarinet. She has been playing clarinet for 6 years, ever since then. In sixth grade, when we formed the band, Nicole switched over to bass guitar because our band did not have one. She has been playing bass for 5 years, ever since then. During the end of her freshman year of high school, Nicole started learning tenor saxophone because the school band desperately needed one. When she switched schools, she played tenor for the pep band. During her sophomore year, Nicole started learning upright bass. She currently plays clarinet, electric and upright bass, and tenor saxophone. Nicole also does the vocals on three of our songs.
Nicole's clarinet is a Buffet. Her electric bass is a Fender. Her tenor saxophone is a Yamaha.
Outside of The Dogz, Nicole enjoys downhill ski racing, running track and pole vaulting, handmade crafts, and computer science. She started ski racing during her freshman year of high school, although she had been skiing for several years before that. When she grows up, Nicole wants to go into computer engineering but also continue her musical career.
